China has dominated the proceedings at the 51st session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva (September 12-October 7) where many Western developed countries are deliberating over the proper response to China’s human rights abuses in East Turkistan. Activists are demanding substantive action after the former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet concluded China may be committing crimes against humanity.
